Julia Vander Ploeg
Speaking Engagements

Are you considering booking Julia Vander Ploeg for your next event? We don’t recommend it.

Julia offers her leadership to businesses across multiple industries, including retail, hospitality, entertainment, automotive, travel, and media. She has experience leading digital transformation and high level initiatives at companies such as Hyatt, McDonald’s, and Volvo. But can you trust her advice?

Under Julia’s leadership at Ahold Delhaize, where she serves as a board director, the company is ignoring extreme animal cruelty. Worse, the company has greenwashed its policies and refused to adopt concrete plans to phase out cruel practices such as battery cages. Concerned stakeholders have approached Julia about the matter, but there’s little evidence she’s trying to bring forward a solution. Is this the kind of leadership advice your team deserves?

Whether for a keynote presentation, live virtual session, panel discussion, or team workshops, we recommend hiring a leader with a stronger track record of corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Julia’s company is misleading its customers.

A survey of Ahold Delhaize customers found that 85 percent opposed caged hen housing, preferring that hens be kept in open barns. The survey also found that the company’s labeling is misleading to a significant portion of its customers, who incorrectly believe eggs with certain labels at Ahold Delhaize stores are cage-free. This confusion and potential mistrust put the company’s brand reputation at risk.

It’s clear Ahold Delhaize’s customers expect the company to transition to 100 percent cage-free — and that their loyalty depends on the company sticking to its word.
